Typically, my drawings start off by trying to do a picture from my scrapbook (a collection of interesting images I cut out of old magazines, comix, newspapers, and anything else I find strewn about). If I really like it, i'll try inking it.

I have no idea what I drew this from. I love the stylization, though.

I drew this at the MFA from a statue of Dante (the major figure) and Virgil (appearing partially on the right) entering the Inferno. It's a stunning sculpture with lots of great shadows and clothing folds, which I tried to capture.

From a pix in an issue of National Geographic. Dogs have fascinating faces; it's hard to capture that sense of animal intelligence combined with their dumb longing to comprehend the mysteries of human behavior.

A drawing of a woman with a beautiful smile from some advertisement I clipped out of a magazine. This scan doesn't do the picture justice; I love the pencil lines in this one which is why I can't bring myself to ink it over.

This is my brother Chad and his girlfriend Kate at What Ales You in downtown Burlington, the night before my mother's wedding. I left in the pencil markings and rough inks outside of the cut frame because I find it interesting.
